Help, I need somebody
Help, not just anybody
Help, you know, I need someone
Help
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody’s help in any way
But now these days are gone, I’m not so self assured
Now I find, I’ve changed my mind, I’ve opened up the doors

Right… so… this isn’t so much an article as it is a request for help. I’ve been maintaining my blog for nearly two months and I’ve become increasingly critical of my work. One of my reasons for creating this blog was to give myself a public forum for which to practice my writing skills. While I’ve challenged myself in a number of ways, I’m still missing an important element: critical review. In college all of my papers were graded and I received constructive criticism from my professors. This allowed me to grow as a writer.
I’m interested in developing a relationship with someone that has strong writing and editing skills and experience. I want more than just a proofreader for spelling and grammar mistakes. I would like someone who can identify errors in style and suggest ways to improve. In short, I really need a mentor.
I’m not sure what I can offer in return. This blog is more of a hobby right now so I can’t afford to pay anyone but I would consider reasonable requests for some kind of reciprocation (peer review, research, etc). Of course, wanting to help me out of sheer kindness is not only acceptable but highly encouraged. 🙂
If anyone is interested please leave a comment and I’ll reach out to you with my email address. Thank you in advance to anyone who considers my request.

Chris, I know just the guy. But before you get excited let me just say he is very hard to get in touch with. He was an English and theater major in college, did a teacher assistant for a year at the University of Kentucky. Lives near Seattle right now. A very good friend of mine. I will see what I can do. But do nn’s get your hopes up.
Johnny.
